Last night Joyce and I went to see the Broadway production of CATS at the Majestic Theater here in San Antonio.
The musical is based on T. S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" and tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as the "the Jellicle choice", deciding which cat will ascend to the Heavyside Layer and come back to a new life. CATS was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1981 and introduced the song "Memory".
Before the show we had dinner at Barron's in the Gunter Hotel. The restaurant always has a Italian buffet with a "make your own" pasta bar. It's pretty darn good and the price is reasonable for eatery's in downtown San Antonio.

We're getting some more rain here in the San Antonio area again. Although Texas needs all the rain it can get, I have to admit it is getting old.
Yesterday Joyce and I drove over to Katy, TX to pick up the Swivel Wheel we had ordered. Katy is located near Houston so it took us about two and a half hours to get there. It took the Carl about minutes to hook up the rig to our truck and then another five minutes to give us some instructions about it's operation. Very simple. If the rain lets up here today I'll get it adjusted for the trailer.

It's been fairly quiet around the ranch the past few days. We have been getting some rain to help with the drought situation here in Texas for which everyone down in these parts are very thankful.
I think the drought might be over.
Joyce has come down with a cold with a lot of congestion and coughing. To top it off, she has lost her voice causing her having trouble answering the phones. We hope she feels better by tomorrow since we're going to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and see Keith Urban.
The other day I went to down to Lytle, TX to get some propane. In the feed store yard, there was a chuck wagon set-up with a bunch of Dutch ovens on the ground. Being the curious guy I am, I asked the two cowboys there what was goin' on. Seems there is a large trail riding group comin' through Lytle today and there going to cook them dinner (lunch to northern folks).
One of the guys told me that pot roast was on the menu, which they will start cooking at 3 AM. I mentioned that roast meat is going to be really tender if they cook it that long. The older of the two cowboys said, "It's gonna be so tender ya can leave your teeth at home".
I darn near fell out of my truck laughing.

We went to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo yesterday and even though it was very crowded and cold, we had a great time. The Rodeo was excellent as always.
Most of the rodeo stock comes out of ranches in Oklahoma and Colorado and believe me, the animals are world class. Several world champion cowboys compete here in San Antonio and they really know how to put on a show.
After the rodeo, Keith Urban performed an outstanding concert. Both Joyce and I think it was actually one of the best shows we have ever seen. Keith plays the guitar and sings with a lot of intensity and emotion, especially when he does his ballads with the acoustic guitar. On one song, "Kiss A Girl" he went out into the audience, picked out a fan and brought her up on the stage to sing with him. What a thrill that must have been for her, who happened to be a member of the military, stationed here in San Antonio. Then later in the show, he climbed up into the stands and did a really hot solo on "You Look Good In My Shirt". Before he climbed down and returned to the stage, he autographed the guitar he was playing and gave it to a girl in the audience. How cool i that? Here's a link to the newspaper article about the concert: http://www.mysanantonio.com/rodeo/article/Urban-doesn-t-disappoint-in-rodeo-return-3305844.php
OK, this is getting a little long. Until next time.
